The Yoruba Youth Assembly (YYA), a socio-cultural youth organization committed to the promotion of justice, democratic values, peace, and responsible leadership across Yoruba land, addresses the people of Ondo State and Nigerians at large regarding the disturbing reports of political violence linked to the disruption of a recent APC stakeholders’ engagement in Akure.
Reports indicate that the meeting involving the APC State Chairman, Hon. Ade Adetimehin, and other party stakeholders was violently disrupted by individuals allegedly loyal to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. Such developments, if true, are deeply troubling and unacceptable in a democratic setting.

Political leadership must never be associated with intimidation, coercion, or the disruption of lawful political processes. Democracy thrives on dialogue, fair participation, and respect for institutional procedures—not on fear or force.
The Yoruba Youth Assembly therefore strongly condemns any act of violence or political intimidation, regardless of who is involved.
We hereby warn Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to desist from any action or association that undermines democratic principles in Ondo State. The office of a governor demands composure, tolerance, and a commitment to peaceful engagement—even in moments of political disagreement.

No political ambition justifies disorder. No contest justifies chaos.
Leadership is not proven by silencing opponents but by earning the confidence of the people. Ondo State deserves stability, maturity, and responsible governance.
The Yoruba Youth Assembly calls on all political actors to remain calm and allow democratic processes to proceed without interference. We also urge security agencies to ensure neutrality and uphold the rule of law without bias.
Ondo State must not become a theatre of political intimidation. The dividends of democracy—peaceful participation, transparency, and accountable leadership—must be protected at all costs.

We reiterate our position: Governor Aiyedatiwa must distance himself from any form of political violence and ensure that such incidents do not recur.
The youth of Yoruba land are watching. Democracy must be preserved.
