A father is not only the man who gives life, but the one who gives direction, discipline, and enduring values. Today, I pay tribute to a rare gem, a pillar of integrity, and a man whose name stands tall in service and honor — Alhaji DIG Adewale Gazali Lawal (Rtd), the Asiwaju of Ikirun Land.
He was a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, and indeed one of the finest police officers Nigeria has ever produced. His name was synonymous with discipline, courage, professionalism, and selfless service. In the Nigeria Police Force, his reputation was second to none — a leader who led by example, a commander who inspired loyalty, and a man whose word carried weight because it was built on truth and justice.
Beyond the uniform, he was a father in the truest sense of the word. He took me as one of his children, guiding me with love, wisdom, and unwavering support. His daily advice was a compass in my life — firm yet kind, corrective yet encouraging. Those words still echo in my heart, shaping my decisions and strengthening my resolve.
Daddy, your legacy lives on through the values you instilled in me, the love you showed, and the memories we shared. You taught me integrity, humility, perseverance, and the importance of standing for what is right, no matter the cost. You showed me that true greatness lies not in power, but in service to humanity.
As the Asiwaju of Ikirun Land, you were more than a title holder — you were a builder of people and a driver of development. You brought meaningful progress to Ikirun, championed growth, and uplifted lives. You assisted countless individuals, often quietly, without seeking recognition. Your impact is written not just in projects, but in the hearts of the people whose lives you touched.
Your absence leaves a deep void. I will miss your daily counsel, your strength, and your reassuring presence. Yet, I find comfort in knowing that you lived a fulfilled life of purpose and left behind a legacy that time cannot erase.
